SIMON
INSTRUCTIONS
1. DOWNLOAD A PICTURE OF SIMON
- After you print your picture of SIMON, cut alongside him and place him
on oak tag or poster board using a glue stick. This will make him stand up
straight. To easily carry Simon around you can place a craft stick on the back
of the picture. Now Simon is ready to go!
- REMEMBER! When you download Simon from the website you agree to treat him as
your special guest. Simon won’t be any trouble. All Simon wants to do is spend
the day with you and help spread awareness of TS across the US.
2. TAKE SIMON TO YOUR SCHEDULED ACTIVITY
There are many ways you can spend the day with Simon. Below are some
suggestions.
- Presentations (For a sample presentation about Simon click here)
Family presentations
Classroom presentations
Presentations at your after school groups
(Karate class, dance class, girl/ boy scouts, baseball team, etc.)
-Other Activities
Dance Recitals
Baseball Game
Soccer Game
- Chapter Events
Fundraisers
Board Meetings
Support Group Meetings
Trip to the Hill/ Meeting with your state representative
- Spend the day with Simon
Simon wants to travel all over the US spreading awareness of TS. Each state is different so why not take Simon on a tour of your hometown and take pictures of him in different places of interest in your state.
Do you have a friend who lives in another chapter/ state? Why don’t you send Simon to visit them? Write a letter to your friend in another state/chapter and let them know all about Simon and his goal of traveling the US spreading awareness of TS.
For a sample letter click here. Don’t forget to tell them to send Simon back home after his visit. Make sure they take lots of pictures to place them in his scrapbook. Simon’s email address is:
3. TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES
- Take lots of pictures of your activity/ day with Simon so that we
can post it in his online scrapbook. With each picture you submit, write one or
two sentence explaining what Simon is doing in the picture.
4. WRITE A JOURNAL ENTRY
- Write a small paragraph or just a few sentences about your day with
Simon.
- Please include as much information as possible: What you did with Simon? Where
you went? If you did a presentation, how did it go? How did people feel about
having Simon around? These are only suggestions; please feel free to add as many
details of your day with Simon.
5. SEND PICTURES AND JOURNAL ENTRY TO:
- Once we receive your journal entry and pictures, they will be reviewed for
posting on Simon’s
online scrapbook. We’ll notify you once your entries are posted but make sure to
check back often to see where Simon’s spreading awareness of TS.
6. CHECK SIMON’S WEBSITE
- After we notify you, check the website to view your day with Simon
where you can see your pictures and journal entries as well as the other
adventures that Simon has been on spreading awareness of TS.
- Also, check back often to find out about the different adventures, contest and
ideas that Simon is working on!!
7. OTHER SUGGESTIONS
- If you did a school presentation you can donate a set of Simon
Books to your school library. Let the kids know that they are there for them to
borrow.
- Read one of the Simon books to your class or have a teacher, parent or older
student read a Simon book to your class.
